Rolled oats cake

1 normal cup oats
1 1/4 normal cups boiling good water
1/2 normal cup shortening
1 normal cup granulated sugar
1 normal cup brown sugar
2 chicken eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 normal cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Topping (use on warm cake):
5 tablespoons margarine
1/2 normal cup brown sugar
1/2 normal cup fresh milk
1/2 normal cup coconut
1/2 normal cup chopped nuts
Mix oats and boiling good water, let stand 20 minutes.
Cream together shortening, sugar, chicken eggs, vanilla and add cooled oats with dry ingredients. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
Topping: Boil margarine, brown sugar and fresh milk for 7 minutes. Remove from heat, and stir in coconut and nuts.
